Commercial Solar PV & Battery Storage
Reduce Energy Costs and Protect Your Operating Margins
Commercial solar PV and battery storage systems engineered for manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, agriculture and other energy-intensive UK businesses.
Commercial returns
A clear business case, modelled around your actual energy use
Every project is assessed using site conditions, electricity consumption, tariffs and funding structure. The result is a practical forecast of system performance, savings and return.
Indicative payback
Commonly achievable on suitable sites, depending on energy use, tariff, system size and funding.
Projected returns
Financial modelling based on your consumption profile, electricity costs and final design.
Energy cost control
Reduce exposure to volatile electricity prices by generating more power on site.
Capital allowances
Commercial solar may qualify for applicable capital allowances, subject to professional tax advice.
Additional financial advantages
Commercial solar can deliver value beyond lower electricity bills
Depending on your business, tax position, funding method and installation, commercial solar may provide valuable capital allowances, business-rates treatment and income from exported electricity.
Annual Investment Allowance
Qualifying solar equipment may be eligible for the Annual Investment Allowance, allowing eligible businesses to deduct up to 100% of qualifying plant and machinery expenditure from taxable profits, subject to the current £1 million annual limit.
First-Year Allowance
Solar panels are generally treated as special-rate assets. Where the AIA cannot be used, qualifying limited companies may be able to claim a 50% first-year allowance on new and unused special-rate equipment, with the remaining balance entering the special-rate pool.
Business Rates Treatment
Eligible plant and machinery used for on-site renewable energy generation and storage is currently excluded from business-rate valuations until 31 March 2035, helping businesses invest without the eligible equipment increasing the property's rateable value.
Smart Export Guarantee
Eligible businesses may receive payment for surplus solar electricity exported to the grid through a Smart Export Guarantee tariff. Export rates, terms and eligibility vary between electricity suppliers.
Turnkey delivery
From first assessment to commissioned system
Platinum manages the technical and practical detail, coordinating each stage around your site, energy requirements and operating schedule.
Energy & Site Assessment
Desktop review of available roof, land or car park areas alongside electricity usage and half-hourly data.
Technical Design
Preliminary generation modelling, equipment selection and identification of structural or site survey requirements.
Grid Application
Preparation and management of the relevant DNO and G99 application process, subject to network approval.
Planned Installation
Safe deployment coordinated around operational shift patterns, access controls and business-critical activity.
Commissioning & Support
Testing, handover, monitoring and ongoing maintenance options to protect long-term system performance.
Project case study
Wilton Farm
A roof-mounted commercial solar array designed to reduce daytime grid consumption and strengthen long-term cost control.
High daytime electricity consumption left the facility increasingly exposed to rising energy costs.
A bespoke 36 kWp roof-mounted solar PV array incorporating panel-level optimisation and smart inverter technology.
Projected first-year savings of approximately £9,900, a 4.2-year payback and an estimated annual carbon reduction of nine tonnes.
